Xiaomi to launch Redmi TV in India on March 17, we all know by now

 The Redmi TV India launch date is set for March 17, the brand revealed on Monday. The Chinese company also did not send an invitation to the launch event. The new development comes in the days after Xiaomi India's Managing Director and Global Vice President Manu Kumar Jain launched the launch of Redmi TV in the country. Xiaomi sells a range of Redmi TVs in China. The company has so far brought smartphones, power banks, audio accessories, and wearables under the Redmi brand to the Indian market. Xiaomi has announced that it will introduce the Redmi TV line-up on 17 March 2021 in India. The smartphone maker has been selling televisions in the country under its Mi sub-brand for a few years and is now set to expand the portfolio. Since the Redmi sub-brand has always focused on the budget category and claimed affordable products, the pocket of the new TV is expected to light up.

The teaser shared by Redmi India on its social media handle featured a sized XL 'size smart TV from the company. This kind of confirms that the first Redmi TV will have a larger screen size. Smart TV will be launched at 12 noon on the stated date. This will be an online-only event. Redmi TV Xiaomi's home markets are on sale in China.

The announcement came a day after a Xiaomi executive told PTI that Redmi TV would target a "much smaller" audience than the Mi brand. Ishwar Neelakantan, lead (Smart TV) of Xiaomi India category, confirmed that the new TVs would be made by Dixon. He did not reveal any details or specifications of the upcoming Smart TV.

"The market is massive and there is room for a new brand to come in. We believe that the new audience that is coming in is going to be a little different from the audience, let's say we're currently catering, Meaning there is a need for a different position and that is why we are entering with the Redmi brand, ”he said.

Without giving any specific information, the Redmi India Twitter account announced the date for the launch of Redmi TV in the country. In the post sent invitation, the brand is teasing that it is bringing an "XL" experience. However, it is unclear whether it plans to launch several Redmi TV models in the country at once.

During the launch of the Redmi Note 10 series - Last week, Manu Kumar Jain revealed plans to launch Redmi TV in the country.

In China, the Redmi brand has a list of smart TV models with the most recent being a Redmi Max 86-inch that comes with a 120Hz display refresh rate.

Xiaomi already has its Mi TV range in India that has taken on the likes of Samsung, Sony, and LG as well as Vu, TCL, and other popular smart TV manufacturers in the country.

To recall, Xiaomi Redmi Max 86-inch Ultra HD LED TV was launched in China last month with the Redmi K40 series. . The Redmi Max Ultra HD (4K) TV is priced at CNY 7,999 (Rs 91,000) and is available only as of now in China. Given the high price of this TV, it is unlikely to be offered in India right now, but one possibility cannot be ruled out.

Redmi features an ultra-HD (3,840x2,160 pixels) resolution with an LED-backlit LCD screen with a maximum 86-inch TV. This HDR support covers many formats including HLG, HDR10, HDR10 +, and Dolby Vision. The television has a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz. The television is powered by a quad-core CPU and has 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.
